Grape Seed Extracts vs. Pycnogenol®:

Grape Seed Extracts contain Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins (OPC's) which are renowned for their superior antioxidant power and superb bioavail-ability. As highly effective antioxidants, these compounds are known to strengthen and repair connective tissue, reduce inflammation and increase capillary resistance. Proanthocyanidins are the same active compounds found in Pycnogenol ® (a registered trademark of Horphag Research Ltd.). High quality grape seed extracts contains more than 92% of Proanthocyanidins. Compare that concentration to only 85% as found in the pine bark extracts of Pycnogenol®.

Grape Seed Extracts with Proanthocyanidins are extremely powerful antioxidants that in vitro studies indicate to be more than 50 times more potent than vitamin E and over 20 times more effective than vitamin C in destroying free-radicals. Proanthocyandins with Radical Scavenging Effects (RSE) are clearly indicated in health related problems that involve free-radical damage, such as degenerative diseases, inflammation and aging.

Research supports the use of Proanthocyanidins in increasing capillary resistance, so important in the prevention of varicose veins, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. These antioxidant are also important in the treatment of inflammatory problems such as swollen joints, mild arthritis and connective tissue injuries.

Several European medical studies show that capillary resistance and permeability are improved by the administration of Proanthcyanidins. By reducing capillary fragility, these compounds can help prevent bruising, and the development of varicose veins. A study by Professor Choussat at the University of Bordeaux, demonstrated a 40% increase in capillary resistance in a test group taking a single 85 mg. dose of Proanthocyanidins. There was no change in the placebo group during the same 72 hour test interval.

Proanthocyanidins from Grape Seed Extracts are safe and effective, and there are no reported side effects with even high doses of the extracts. Proanthocyanidins can be used as a daily defense against free radical damage and the many health problems associated with them.

Grape Seed Extracts (OPC 95), contain potent antioxidants that exhibits Radical Scavenging Effects (RSE) that exceed those found in Pycnogenol®. With 95% Proanthocyanidins, Grape seed extracts are an important addition to the fight against free-radical damage and aging.
